HAROLD HISER gave us an updated “Ten Minutes of Fame” before introducing Karri Fletcher and Shelly Shearer from the Indiana Blood Center. Each member received a lifesaver mint to emphasize the point that each person could be a life saver. Each person can give one unit which can save the life of three people. Karri said the center needs 550 units per day and that the center supplies 100% of the blood for Hendricks Regional Health, while meeting the needs in 66 counties. During the Q&A, Karri emphasized that all donated blood is subjected to extensive testing which has resulted in diagnosing unknown health issues for a donor.
